Before the events of Bakemonogatari, Koyomi and Tsubasa delve into the mystery surrounding a stone that was enshrined into one of the school's gardens.

After Hitagi's condition is treated, she and Koyomi investigate the true reason why some flowers were left behind on a street and the school's rooftop.

After Oshino leaves the city, Mayoi informs Koyomi about a sand box whose shape resembles a devil and he decides to find out why.

After Koyomi helps Kanbaru tidying her room, he has a bath in her house, and finds out a curious story about the water of the tub.

Nadeko comes over to Koyomi's house, and is pleasantly surprised that Koyomi's parents and siblings are all absent. The two then engage in a discussion about Kaiki's curse and his means of spreading the rumor amongst the middle schoolers in town.

Karen asked Koyomi for advice regarding a mysterious grown tree that suddenly appeared on her dojo's backyard.

Tsukihi consults Koyomi regarding her Tea Club members on why her fellow members still believe in the ghostly "eight member" despite Tsukihi proving the rumor was fake.

Araragi Koyomi walks to the North Shirahebi Shrine with Oshino Ougi as she explains to him the history of the shrine and how it affected the town he lives in.

Koyomi and Shinobu get carried away with a lengthy conversation about donuts after Hitagi sends him five home-made donuts to encourage him in his studies.

Araragi stumbles across Yotsugi on his way home and she enlists him to help her look for something. After spending the entire day searching the streets, Araragi figures out her intentions with the help of Tsubasa.

Araragi finds himself at the North Shirahebi Shrine, training with Yozuru Kagenui, wishing to become stronger in combat without resorting to becoming a vampire. While training, Araragi asks her a question about Yotsugi, which she refuses to answer unless he manages to land a shot on her in combat. Knowing what a difficult task that is, he returns home and asks his younger sister, Araragi Karen, for advice. Upon hearing what she has to say, he decides to have Shinobu create a gun for him, which he plans to use to circumvent the rules she has set. Upon going back to the North Shirahebi Shrine the next day, he discovers that Kagenui is nowhere to be found.

Araragi visits the North Shirahebi Shrine again and meets Izuko Gaen, who explains to him the solution to the problems the city is having, as well as her plan to enact it.
